Students' Gymkhana — The official student government of IIT Kanpur

Who We Are

The Students' Gymkhana is the official student government organization of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Established in 1962, it serves as the collective voice and representative body of the entire student community.

We are a student-run organization that functions on the principles of democracy, accountability, and service. Our mission is to enhance the overall student experience at IIT Kanpur by fostering leadership, creativity, innovation, and community spirit.

Our Mission

To foster a corporate life based on equality of status and sound moral judgment, develop all-round extra-curricular activities, and advance the general welfare of fellow students.

We aim to create an inclusive environment where every student can explore their potential, express their ideas, and contribute meaningfully to campus life.

Our Structure

The Gymkhana operates through a well-defined structure consisting of:

  • President — Chief Executive of the Gymkhana
  • Students' Senate — The legislative and supervisory body
  • 4 Councils — AnC, GnS, MnC, SnT
  • 5 Cells — CWC, EC, E-Cell, Outreach, Vox
  • 3 Major Fests — Antaragni, Techkriti, Udghosh
